Halloween Costume: Arm Cuff Tutorial

I have finally decided what I want to be for Halloween. I needed to figure this out early on so I could get everything together especially since I wanted to save some money and not buy everything.  The Goober decided we should go as Pokemon trainers and I was all to happy to say yes... I just had to decide which one.

This is Hilda the female trainer you can play as in Pokemon Black and White. Out of all the female trainers, she is dresses mostly like I would. I love that she wears shorts instead of a dress/skirt. This tutorial will go through how I made the Arm Cuffs.

I cut out my pieces of fabric. The black is 11"x 8" and the pink is 1.5"x 8". But it is very tight to get onto my wrist from over my hand. I would suggest making them a bit wider than the 8". I wanted a tight fit so they wouldn't move around much once they were on and they definitely don't. I made sure I had enough for a seam allowance of .5", which worked well for everything except for my last seam.

Then I sewed one edge of the pink fabric to the black with the right sides together.

Next sew the other edge of the pink fabric to the other end of the black fabric so it makes a tube.

Turn inside out and make sure the pink is the same distance from the top edge. Mine was 1.5"

Fold in half and line up the edges and sew done the open edge. I had to use a very small seam allowance in order for my cuffs to fit around my wrists. Make sure to sew the edges up really well or they'll start to fall apart when you put on and take off the cuffs. Repeat everything to make the other one.

And there you have it the finished product. More tutorials to come as I get ready for Halloween.
