We had a slow start this morning because we didn’t want to deal with any morning traffic. It was the day I was most looking forward to… HARRY POTTER WORLD! We finally headed out to Universal Studio Hollywood and we managed to miss all the awful traffic. We got there paid $20 for parking and then walked forever just to get to the gate. Devin forced me to bring my jacket and I wasn’t really happy about it because it wasn’t that cold.
The first thing we did in the park was head to the Harry Potter section and it was absolutely amazing! They had the Hogwarts Express exploding out of a wall with a conductor to take pictures with. The attention to detail was breathtaking. It was everything I had ever imagined.
The first thing I wanted to do was go to the Harry Potter ride in the castle (even though the wait was 125 minutes long). So Lyssa and Papa Bear chilled with the babies and everyone else waited in line. As we got closer and closer, we got to see more of the grounds and castle of Hogwarts! It was so cool. We got to see the greenhouses and some mandrakes, the headmaster’s office, and the sorting hat!
The ride was absolutely amazing with a combination of animatronics, moving seat effects and other things. It was so cool! After we finally got out of that ride, we meet back up with everyone and then decided to hit up the Special Effects Show because it was drizzling a bit. That was pretty awesome too. After that show we went to the Animal Actors one to show Emma the puppies. And then since it was still a bit wet we went and watched the WaterWorld show. All of them were fun and Rachel did great.
At least point we were all starving and it was late enough that there wasn’t a line at the Three Broomsticks. We all got ourselves some delicious food (I went with the Fish and Chips and they were amazing!). We all got to try Butterbeer three different ways (hot, cold and frozen). Devin and I are going to see if we can come up with some copycat recipes because they were amazing.
We then headed down to the lower lot to hit up the Jurassic Park ride and the Transformer ride. Both were awesome and although we were a bit worried about getting wet on the Jurassic Park ride, it ended up being okay because we were in the front row. At this point it was pretty cold and wet and I was glad Devin made me bring my jacket. I went and bought myself a classic Jurassic Park shirt.
After we did everything we wanted to in the lower lot, we traveled back up the 4 escalators and went back to Harry Potter world. We rode the Hogwarts castle ride again and then we also went on the Flight of the Hippogriff “child-friendly” roller coaster (It really wasn’t too bad.) After we had done that we went and convinced Papa Bear to ride the Minion ride (Lyssa and I chilled with the little ones). After that point the little girls were done and it was about 9pm so we were safe to leave and miss all the traffic. Devin, Zach, Rachel and I had to go back to Harry Potter World so I could do my shopping. I got a Ravenclaw hoodie, shirt, and socks. Devin got a Gryffindor hoodie and I also bought Genevieve a Hogwarts water bottle/coffee mug. At this point it started pouring so we quickly headed back to the cars (I ended up with soaking shoes!) The traffic was a piece of cake to navigate and by the time we got back to the house we were all exhausted and passed out!
